Carbon is one of the fundamental elements of the universe and a key component of the human body. Since the early 1990s, scientific evidence has highlighted the potential of carbon-based materials in medical applications. In 1990, Mr. Bauer acquired BETTAC plus s.r.o., manufacturer of ACATEX — the predecessor of Bauer Bandage Special.
Clinical testing between 1992 and 1994 confirmed that carbon textile materials could be safely and effectively used in wound care. Since 1998, development has focused on improving carbon textile structure and enhancing the diffusion-based fluid transport mechanism known as the diffusion pump effect. These efforts resulted in the market-ready product Bauer Bandage Special in 2004.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES
High-purity activated carbon allows direct application to the wound surface.
Carbon fibers can be cut and shaped according to wound size and depth.
Elastic fiber structure enables efficient exudate drainage and continued absorption.

Standard, still commonly used method based on drainage of exudate, elimination of infection, and slow granulation and epithelialization.
A more modern method based on maintaining an optimal healing environment - nutrition, temperature, easy cell proliferation with moisturizing compress.
A column of fluid that penetrates both the layer of carbon fabric and the nonwoven fabric is applied to the wound, creating a diffusion pump effect that removes unwanted substances and particles from the wound environment. The system uses only physical transport mechanisms.
